Managing Wales’ natural resources and protecting biodiversity – Policy Forum for Wales

Scheduled as the Environmental (Wales) Bill is debated in the National Assembly and to follow the expected release of the Welsh Government’s Nature Recovery Plan and the Welsh National Marine Plan, this seminar will bring together key policymakers and affected stakeholders to discuss the Welsh Government’s proposals to manage natural resources and support biodiversity – and the challenges for implementation.

Delegates will discuss next steps for protecting the biodiversity of Welsh environment and how best to: safeguard species, habitats and ecosystems including steps to build resilience to invasive species; improve research, monitoring and surveillance; work with landowners and farmers to adapt resource management practices; tackle pollution; and ensure environmental concerns are addressed within the planning application process.

Professor James Scourse, Director, Climate Change Consortium of Wales and Professor of Marine Geology, Bangor University will participating and will speak on

“How will Wales be affected by climate change and how should it adapt?”

Keynote speaker is  Matthew Quinn, Director of Environment and Sustainable Development, Welsh Government
